It's New Year's Eve, London, 1999, and you're at a different kind of party. RICO: London is the follow-up fast-paced shooter from developer Ground Shatter and publisher Numskull Games. With a cel-shaded art style and plenty of slow-motion, door-busting action, it's the weapons that run the show in RICO.

There are a ton of different weapons to try, from grenade launchers to desert eagles, some draw inspiration from classic 2000's British gangster films, while others, like the throwing knife, are a subtle throwback to Ubisoft's XIII, a game that feels like a natural inspiration for RICO: London. Here are some of the best weapons in the game.

9 SK-12 'Gunslinger': Best One Shot Kill

RICO_ London - SK-12 Shotgun

The SK-12 Gunslinger is a named version of the regular SK-12. This high-damage semi-automatic shotgun can clear rooms with ease. We found it effective at most ranges, with a placed shot across the room enough to kill any enemy without a helmet. Hit every shot and you can clear rooms with a single magazine. Reloading might cause you a few problems, though.

8 Throwing Knives: Deadly Precision

RICO_ London - Throwing Knife Bullseye

Out of bullets? Looking to style on your enemies? Whip out a Throwing Knife and get slicing. This ranged weapon will kill an enemy instantly, but you only get three per run. You can collect it after you've cleared the room, though. Deadly and effective if your aim is on point.

7 GL-9 'Golden Hind': Total Chaos

RICO_ London - GL-9 Grenade Launcher

From Throwing Knives to a Grenade Launcher. The GL-9 is a more explosive way to clear rooms, and the golden-skin GL-9 is the best way to do it in style. There's nothing quite as satisfying in RICO as killing all eight bad guys in a room with two well-placed grenades. Be careful, though, the grenades will damage you, too.

6 SG-226 'The Professional': Silent But Deadly

RICO_ London - SG-226 The Professional

Channel your inner Hitman with The Professional, a silenced SG-226 handgun. An extended magazine, silencer, and reduced recoil make this weapon one of the best in the game for popping heads. Conquer with stealth and speed rather than brute firepower.

5 FS-90P 'The One': Slow Motion Firepower

RICO_ London - FS90P The One

The One is a named version of the FS-90P, a rapid-fire SMG with 48 bullets to a magazine. Kitted out with a suppressor, reflex sight, and laser pointer, these many bullets make it easy to clear rooms during your door-busting bullet time. Hit your shots and stack your killstreak for extra points.

4 M249 Saw 'The Queen': More Bullets Than You'll Ever Need

RICO_ London - m249 saw

This decked-out version of the M249, The Queen, comes with a glitzy golden skin. For raw firepower, there's no gun that comes close to the Saw. A hundred bullets are enough to wipe rooms with ease, sliding through doors and letting rip through groups of bad guys. It comes in handy when it comes to the boss rooms, too, because you can just keep shooting. Forever.

3 SA.40 'Millenium': Celebrate 1999

RICO_ London - SA.40 Millenium

Celebrate the turn of the millennium in style with the SA.40 'Millenium' handgun, a sidearm that celebrates the famous Thames New Year's fireworks. This weapon features a mini-sight and a laser, perfect for precision shots from the hip or down the sight.

2 How Weapons Work In RICO: London

RICO_ London - Pistol

The arsenal at your disposal in RICO: London is massive. Grenades, throwing knives, shotguns, submachine guns: the weapons are the star of your New Year's Eve party. You'll get a chance to purchase new weapons at the end of each level, but you can also pick up weapons you find lying around on the floor.

Don't worry too much about ammo. There are ammo pouches dotted around cleared rooms, on desks, under chairs. However, if you're going for a massive scorestreak, you can just blitz through the rooms and pick up new weapons as you go.

1 Tips For Using Weapons In RICO: London

RICO_ London

The gameplay loop in RICO: London is simple but satisfying. Bust down doors, go into bullet time, kill enemies. You can jump and slide all over the place, and if you manage to wipe out enemies in good time you'll build up a scorestreak. These points can be spent at the end of every level for upgrades, health packs, and new unique weapons.

Experiment with the different weapons as you climb through the tower block. Each has its uses: the sidearms are effective for precise headshots, the assault rifles are better for a little more spray and pray, and the shotguns are probably the best in the game for clearing rooms quickly.
